Day 36 -- Hello Tanny

Today Elena and I woke up around ten, and then went straight to the outside pool; not to swim, but to tan.  And tan we did.  I have significant “front and back” lines on the sides of my body from not laying more awkwardly on my sides.  I’ll work on those.  During our tan, we went down to the cafĂ© and bought ourselves some ham baguettes and pringles!  After burning a bit more, we rode our bikes back home just to lay on the beach and bake some more while reading our delightful books (I am currently still reading The Boy In The Striped Pyjamas).
It is even more of a contrast in person!
This is the real sign in front of the sauna!  Quite Hilarious if you ask me.

Day 35 -- Amsterdam

Yes, Elena and I took the train to Amsterdam!

We had such a blast.  As soon as we hopped out of the train station, we stood in line to get Holland’s best fries!  And they were good…no contest against In N Out though, sad to say.

We walked around and took in the beautiful scenery and sun, until we stopped for some more food, of course.  Elena bought a hot dog and I bought an olive and cheese bread type of thing.  It was the best bread type olive thing I’ve ever had.

After a little while we bought waffles with ice cream on top!  Delicious.  I got a chocolate dipped waffle with tiramisu and mint chip!

This is "mobile protection".  Seriously though, it is a condom for your cell phone for when you go swimming or something.  Joke gift.

Shopping time!  I bought three gorgeous necklaces, two pairs of earrings, sunglasses (which I found out as soon as I took the sticker off the eye glass that there is a permanent oily spot that won’t let me see out of that eye) and a jumper (sweater).  I’ll call these items my Amsterdam goodies.
Because it was now about six at night, we thought that we should get back to Belgium.  We walked to the train station to find out that the train was leaving right then!  Elena and I booked it, almost crashing into multiple people while half laughing and half screaming of fear that we wouldn’t make it.  Pretty much as soon as we sat on the train, it left.  Perfect timing.  At the station we bought some more ice cream while we waited for Andrew and Michelle to pick us up.  We love ice cream.
We got home, ate left over dinner, and now we are currently watching Cool Runnings and eating a lot of bread.  Elena is painting her toe nails, so I’ll join her now.  Good night!

Day 34 -- Sleeping Beauties

Because of our late night previous to this morning, we woke up around ten.  This is not unusual for me, but it was nice to know that we slept through all of the early birdie children’s wake up calls.  We ate breakfast, and then told Luke to go steal Rebekah’s poker MnMs to add to our popcorn.  Rebekah followed Luke closely as he ran back with the brown plastic bag in hand, but apparently not close enough because she lost track of him when Andrew shoved him in between mine and Elena’s beds.  I was extremely surprised that he actually fit!  Once he was in the clear, after about ten minutes of being squashed and us feeding him bits of popcorn, he ran out to the beach.

TINY Opening!

After the excitement, Elena and I turned on Harry Potter, the same movie for the third time, and quickly fell asleep until four in the afternoon!  As if we didn’t already get enough.
It was our night to prepare dinner for everyone!  We made tagetelli with salad and buttered baguettes.  For dessert, Elena made her delicious pancakes (crepes) stuffed with chocolate chip ice cream, chocolate sauce, chocolate sprinkles; or with Nutella.

That night all the couples went out for a childless swim.  Elena and I count as a couple.  Then we came home, turned on Sex and the City part two, and ate a WHOLE bag of chocolate covered caramels.  And a pack of oreos.  Each.  It was a wonderful night!
